CHINA Federation of Logistics and Purchasing's (CFLP) latest figures show that China's Logistics Prosperity Index (LPI) climbed 5.5 percentage points over February to 55.9 per cent in March, rising for the first time following the fall since December last year, Xinhua reports.
Yan Shujun, director of the Logistics Statistics Office of the China Logistics Information Centre, attributed the fall in January and February to Chinese New Year seasonal factors.
As weather turns warmer and holiday effect weakens, production will be back onto normal track, logistics demand will increase and the industry will recover steadily, she said.
All sub indexes of LPI increased except logistics service price index and capital turnover index.
New order index grew 4.6 percentage points month to month to 55.5 per cent, the highest level since July last year. Business volume index rose 5.5 percentage points to 57.9 per cent, indicating purchasing growth, production and sales activities. The facility use index rose 6.9 percentage points to 58.2 per cent, showing increasing logistics demand. Employers index also grew 6.4 percentage points to 52.4 per cent.
The LPI takes 50 per cent as the critical level separating growth and shrinkage of the logistics industry.
