FINLAND's Cargotec unit Kalmar has signed a contract with Piattaforma Logistica Trieste (PLT) to supply four Kalmar Eco Reachstackers to the Port of Trieste, according to a Cargotec Trade Press Release.
The delivery is scheduled for the beginning of the second quarter in 2021.
PLT is a partnership dedicated to building and operating a new marine terminal in the Port of Trieste, northern Italy, in a public-private partnership with the Trieste Port Authority.
The port has been a key transport hub and has increased in intermodal shipping traffic as of late. PLT's strong environmental focus on emissions and noise reduction was a key driver behind selecting the Kalmar Eco Reachstacker.
The machines have a lifting capacity of 45 tons and will reduce noise, including an insulation kit and a soft-landing function with an ultrasonic sensor.
The Kalmar Eco Reachstacker also consumes up to 40 per cent less fuel, helping cut the cost of fuel and emissions while matching the productivity levels of machines with larger engines.
'The Eco Reachstacker demonstrates our commitment to developing solutions that help customers to minimise their environmental impact while improving productivity,' said Kalmar country director Marco Tosi.
'We are very pleased that PLT has selected our eco-efficient technology and would like to thank both the Kalmar Italy team and our local dealer Carr Service for their hard work in securing this deal,' said Mr Tosi.
