High speed ferry "Kanuni Sultan Suleyman" of IDO, Istanbul Sea Buses company, had an accident today while getting alongside pier at Yalova, according to Turkish Maritime News site www.denizhaber.com.
The ferry, at the end of the Yenikapi-Yalova trip, went alongside ferry pier at Yalova town, which is a destination at Anatolian coast within Marmara Sea, and before the cars start to disembark, ferry accidentally moved avay from the berth, that it was disclosed by the company that due to "technical failure".
The ferry had the ramp opened and some cars over it disembarking when ferry suddenly began to move away from berth. During the incident, one of the cars on the ramp has plunged into the sea with 3 passengers in it.
One of the cars luckily managed hanging on the ramp.
The casualties Tayfun Çoban ( 29) Kağan İdili ( 29) and Zehra Melike Yazgan (23) was recovered from the submerged car by some crewmembers of the ferry, Kanuni Sultan Suleyman. One of them had his arm broken, all casualties were taken to nearby hospitals.

IDO is a public company of Istanbul Municipality whic was recently divided in two in order to facilitate the privatisation process. The ferry which accident took place is in the part which is subject to privatisation.
