NASDAQ-LISTED Greek shipowner Capital Product Partners has announced the sale of two 9,288 TEU container vessels for US$195 million to Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), reports Singapore's Splash 247.
MSC has around 13 second-hand boxships still to be delivered to its fleet, adding to 32 second-hand ships brought in since September 2020.
The vessels sold are the 2016 built CMA CGM Magdalena and the 2015-built Adonis. Both have a combined value of US$187.1 million. Boxship prices are currently surging with the Clarksons containership second-hand price index increasing 47 per cent since June of 2020.
CMA CGM Magdalena is scheduled for delivery in May, while Adonis is scheduled in July and August.
