BLUEBIRD Nordic intends to expand its operations in Europe by obtaining an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) in Slovakia, which is seen as a strategic move to enable the airline to penetrate vital markets, reports London's Air Cargo News.
Currently, bluebird Nordic operates a fleet comprising one B737-300, six B737-400, and five B737-800 full freighter aircraft, but the airline plans to increase its fleet size to 25 aircraft in the coming years, focusing primarily on the Boeing Next Generation segment.
Recently, AviaAM Leasing, a lessor affiliated with Avia Solutions Group, purchased two additional Boeing B737-800 aircraft for passenger-to-freighter conversion on behalf of Bluebird Nordic as part of their collaborative effort to support Bluebird's fleet expansion objectives.
'Slovakia is ideally positioned in the middle of Europe, which offers great opportunities for a wider geographical coverage,' said Bluebird Nordic CEO Audrone Keinyte.
'The new AOC in the country will aid in expanding our airline routes and destinations and strengthen the airline's name in the region.'
