Baku throughput increased 15 per cent to 40,345 TEU

AZERBAIJAN has increased the total volume of cargo transshipment through Baku port by 20 per cent to 4.8 million tons in 2020, reports AzerNews.

The share of transit cargoes represented 87 per cent of the total cargo volume.



Meanwhile, overturned heavy-duty vehicles and containers handled was a record for the past 30 years. Heavy-duty vehicles increased 28 per cent to 43,218 units.



Container throughput increased 15 per cent to 40,345 TEU, while dry cargo throughput increased 2.8 times to 711,700 tons.



Oil and oil products transshipment volumes increased 1.5 times in 2020, amounting to 498,577 tons. Railcars transshipment decreased 15 per cent to 37,447 units.



Overall, there was a decrease in passenger traffic to 25,609 due to restrictions caused by the Covid crisis.
