135 passengers of the "Voyager of the Seas" suffered of a noro virus attack on Nov 22, 2012. The ship had arrived at Sydney from Wellington before.
Queues at the Overseas Passenger Terminal in Sydney stretched hundred of metres as passengers waiting to board were left waiting for hours, many of them being unaware of the cause of the delay.
The passengers for an overnight cruise had instead arrived early and en masse, in the hope of getting aboard ahead of their allocated time.
Guests on board the mega ship who began to feel unwell after boarding were offered a free consultation at the medical centre. Boarding passengers were, however, asked to fill out forms revealing whether they had recently suffered from gastro or flu-like symptoms.
Those who ticked 'yes' were taken aside for medical check ups. Passengers were unable to enter their cabins upon boarding and were instead directed to the Windjammer restaurant. Rooms that were meant to be ready at 1 p.m. were closed for cleaning until 4 p.m.
