WISTA Turkey's General Assembly elects Melike Aysu Gürgan as President, aiming to enhance women's representation in the maritime sector.
WISTA Turkey, dedicated to strengthening the representation of women in the maritime sector, held its Ordinary General Assembly with significant participation from its members.
During the assembly, past activities were thoroughly evaluated, and goals, projects, and priorities for the upcoming term were discussed.
Melike Aysu Gürgan, speaking on behalf of the candidates, emphasized the institutional development process of WISTA Turkey. She noted that the responsibilities of the Board of Directors extend beyond titles, carrying significant weight. Gürgan highlighted the unprecedented number of candidate applications received, marking a historic moment for the association and reflecting the growing trust and interest in WISTA Turkey.
Following the voting process, Melike Aysu Gürgan was elected as the President of WISTA Turkey, receiving the highest number of votes. The new Board of Directors includes Ebru Şenkaya, Seden Özturan Çarklar, Karin Demirtaş, Elif Kısabacak, Seren Horasanlı, and Ecem Sarı. The alternate Board members elected are İren Arıcan Özdemir, Defne Cizre Artar, Burcu Berrak, Gülsün Karcı Erdoğdu, and Sim Gülle.
With this new leadership, WISTA Turkey aims to further its efforts in promoting the representation of women within the maritime sector.
