TAIWAN's Wan Hai Lines is enhancing its Japan service network, starting from early April when its existing New Super 1 (NS1) service will deploy Panamax vessel sizes. It is also adding a port call to its Japan Kanto service to cover Malaysia. Effective from April 11, the NS1 will be operated using four vessels with WHL deploying two 4,250 TEU vessels, while partners IAL and OOCL will deploy one vessel each.
The service rotation is: Osaka, Kobe, Nagoya, Yokohama, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Port Klang, Ho Chi Minh (Cai Mep), Shekou, Hong Kong, returning to Osaka.
Wan Hai Lines' existing Japan-China-Vietnam service (JCV2) will be restructured to make a port call in Malaysia. The service will be operated with four vessels of 1,700 TEU. WHL will deploy three vessels and IAL one vessel.
The change will take place on April 1 and the port rotation is: Tokyo, Yokohama, Chiba, Keelung, Taichung, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh (Cat Lai), Port Klang, Penang, Hong Kong, Shekou, and back to Tokyo.
'These service enhancements not only help to complement Wan Hai Lines' existing Japan to Straits services but also give it a more comprehensive coverage by integrating a series of NS1, NS2, NS3 and NS5 services,' the company said in a statement.
