US Navy fighter jets have disabled two Iranian tankers in the Gulf of Oman, preventing them from reaching Iranian ports, reports CENTCOM.

US Central Command reported that US Navy fighter jets have disabled two more Iran-bound tankers in the Gulf of Oman, according to Fort Lauderdale's Maritime Executive.

An F/A-18 Super Hornet from USS George HW Bush struck the stacks of two Iranian-flagged tankers in ballast, effectively preventing them from reaching ports on Iran's Gulf of Oman coast. CENTCOM stated that precision munitions were utilized to disable the vessels without causing flooding.

This tactic follows Wednesday's strike on the rudder of the Iranian tanker Hasna. All three tankers have ceased their transits, although plans for salvage or crew assistance have not been disclosed.

CENTCOM indicated that it has redirected 57 tankers since the blockade began in April, with four vessels disabled. Independent trackers reported that some empty tankers managed to slip through, but airborne interdiction provides a resource-efficient method to tighten enforcement without the need for boarding operations.

"US forces in the Middle East remain committed to full enforcement of the blockade," said Adm Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander. He praised personnel for their efforts in maintaining the naval cordon.

In a separate development, CENTCOM released footage of destroyers USS Truxtun, USS Rafael Peralta, and USS Mason operating safely in the Arabian Sea. Iran had claimed to have damaged them in overnight attacks, but the US military denied any harm, although it confirmed retaliatory strikes on Iranian positions in Qeshm and Bandar Abbas.

The destroyers had previously transited Hormuz under fire. Their redeployment eastward suggests that the navy has curtailed its surface combatant presence in the Arabian Gulf, consistent with the suspension of the "Project Freedom" shipping security umbrella.
