    A Turkish catamaran sank in Greek waters with İzmir Commodity Exchange President Işınsu Kestelli and 9 guests aboard; all were rescued.

    The Turkish-flagged catamaran, carrying İzmir Commodity Exchange Board Chairman Işınsu Kestelli and nine guests, sank in Greek waters.

    The vessel began taking on water and became partially submerged in the Saronic Gulf of Greece. Fortunately, all ten individuals on the catamaran were rescued thanks to the swift intervention of the Greek Coast Guard teams.

    Işınsu Kestelli and the nine individuals accompanying her narrowly escaped death in this maritime accident that occurred off the coast of Greece.

    The incident took place on Friday, August 14, near Vouliagmeni, south of Athens, approximately 2 nautical miles west of Fleves Islet. The catamaran began taking on water for reasons yet to be determined. Following the vessel's rapid descent into a partially submerged state, the Greek Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) initiated a rescue operation.

    All ten individuals were rescued from the sea.

    Upon receiving the alert, two Greek Coast Guard boats were dispatched to the area. Additionally, the nearby Cayman Islands-flagged luxury motor yacht named 'Opera' provided assistance with its tender during the rescue efforts.

    The ten individuals aboard the catamaran were first transferred to the yacht 'Opera' and were subsequently transported to Vouliagmeni Marina by the Greek Coast Guard teams. Greek sources confirmed that all ten individuals on the vessel were rescued.

    Winds of 5 Beaufort were affecting the area at the time of the incident.

    At the time of the accident, winds of 5 Beaufort from the north were reported in the area. The exact cause of the catamaran taking on water has not yet been disclosed, and an investigation into the incident has been initiated.

    There were no fatalities or injuries reported in the accident. It was also reported that Kestelli was in good health and returned to Turkey following the incident.

    The Greece-based Kathimerini also confirmed the incident, stating that the Turkish-flagged catamaran capsized off the coast of Vouliagmeni and that all ten individuals on board were rescued.
