Drone strikes were reported on three tankers off Turkey's northern coast in the Black Sea on Thursday, according to shipping agency Tribeca, reports Reuters.
The Palau-flagged crude oil tanker James II was in ballast about 50 miles north of the Turkeli Area when the incident occurred. The Sierra Leone-flagged tankers Altura and Velora were also reportedly attacked nearby while engaged in ship-to-ship operations.
Coastal safety boats were dispatched to assist, and all crew members were reported safe. Neither Moscow nor Kiev immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks, which follow repeated strikes on ports and tankers since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine more than four years ago.
The Turkish transport ministry was not immediately available for comment due to the Eid holiday.
