A bulk carrier caught fire in the Strait of Hormuz, and two other vessels were struck off the UAE, reported the UK's Seatrade Maritime News.
The UKMTO stated that the Thai-flagged Mayruree Naree, owned by Bangkok's Precious Shipping, was hit 11 nautical miles off Oman. Twenty crew members evacuated while three remained trapped as rescue operations continued. The fire was later extinguished, and a skeleton crew stayed on board.
A containership was damaged northwest of Ra's al Khaymah. Vanguard Tech identified the vessel as the Japanese-flagged ONE Majesty, owned by Mitsui OSK Lines and operated by Ocean Network Express. The ship sustained a 10 cm hole, but all crew members were safe, and it headed for anchorage.
A second bulker, the Marshall Islands-flagged Star Gwyneth, operated by Star Bulk, was struck northwest of Dubai. The UKMTO reported that the crew was safe and there was no environmental impact.
The three attacks on March 11 followed a 72-hour lull in the conflict. Iran has threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz and burn ships attempting passage. At least seven seafarers have been killed and others injured in 10 incidents since fighting between the US, Israel, and Iran began on February 28.
