The Coast Guard responds to the aground tanker QENDIL, 249m long and empty, as salvage operations are planned based on vessel condition.
The Coastal Safety General Directorate promptly responded to the incident involving the tanker QENDIL, which measures 249 meters in length and was found to be empty (in ballast condition) at the time of the accident. Salvage tugboats KURTARMA-10 and KURTARMA-16 were dispatched to the area without delay.

In addition to the technical aspects of the incident, the history of the grounded vessel has emerged as a significant topic. Maritime sources indicate that the tanker QENDIL was previously targeted and struck by Ukrainian forces in the Mediterranean. This history, coupled with its grounding in Turkish territorial waters, has raised concerns.
Although the vessel being empty reduces the risk of an environmental disaster, any potential damage to the hull of the 249-meter tanker is being closely monitored. The salvage operation will be planned according to weather conditions and the vessel's condition.
Authorities are expected to release new statements regarding the status of maritime traffic in the area.
