China-made outdoor tents and heaters see soaring demand, with exports to Europe rising sharply amid a global leisure boom.
The global boom in outdoor leisure and glamping is fueling significant export demand for China-made outdoor tents, heating products, and shade structures. With production pipelines booked through 2027, freight forwarders and logistics operators face a sustained increase in cargo volumes, particularly on European trade lanes. Early capacity planning and coordinated supply chain strategies are now critical to meet this growing demand.
In Jiangsu Province, manufacturers of luxury hotel-style tents—complete with living areas, bedrooms, and bathrooms—are experiencing explosive demand, driven by the global shift toward experiential leisure. One producer's orders are fully booked through November, with annual growth nearing 30%. The broader outdoor goods sector continues to expand its market share, with many manufacturers confirming order pipelines extending into 2027.
A Zhejiang-based manufacturer has integrated solar-powered illumination and wind-resistant systems into its outdoor shade structures. These innovations eliminate the need for additional lighting and cater to consumer needs for durable, functional products. With confirmed orders for 500,000 units, production is scheduled through January 2027, with daily output recently increased from 3,000 to 4,000 units. Revenues in this segment have soared, reflecting the sector's rapid growth.
Zhejiang's Cixi district, a major heater manufacturing hub, has seen a dramatic uptick in exports due to volatility in European natural gas prices. Manufacturers are operating at full capacity, delivering energy-efficient heaters tailored to European market preferences. One producer delivered over 500,000 units to Germany in the first half of the year and received an additional 120,000-unit order in August. Collectively, Cixi's heater exports reached RMB 2.55 billion in the first eight months of 2023, with Europe accounting for a significant portion of this growth.
The surge in demand for outdoor goods and heaters highlights the need for proactive logistics planning. Early capacity booking on European trade lanes is essential, particularly during peak fourth-quarter shipment windows. Coordinated efforts in trucking, customs clearance, and warehousing are critical to avoid delays. Additionally, compliance with European certification and labeling regulations is vital to ensure seamless delivery.
With order pipelines extending through 2027, these export trends indicate structural, long-term demand, rewarding logistics providers who plan ahead and invest in responsive, reliable supply chain solutions.
