The Cameroon-flagged vessel 'Marquise,' attacked off Ukraine, was escorted through the Bosphorus as traffic resumed after security measures.
The commercial vessel 'Marquise,' flying the flag of Cameroon, was attacked by an unmanned aerial vehicle off the coast of Ukraine and was subsequently passed through the Istanbul Strait under heightened security measures. The two-way traffic in the Strait, which had been suspended in the morning due to the vessel's passage, was reopened after the operation was completed.
According to the information obtained, the vessel entered the Istanbul Strait around 08:30. During the passage, tugboats and rescue boats affiliated with the General Directorate of Coastal Safety accompanied the ship. For security reasons, maritime traffic in the Strait was temporarily halted.
After a controlled passage lasting approximately a few hours, the vessel 'Marquise' exited the Strait smoothly. Following this, ship traffic in the Istanbul Strait was reopened to two-way transportation.
It was reported that the attack occurred in the Black Sea; however, no detailed explanation regarding the extent of the damage to the vessel was provided by official authorities. This incident has once again raised concerns about security risks to commercial vessels operating in the Black Sea.
