In light of concerns regarding navigation safety in the Black Sea, many commercial ships have anchored off the coast of Samsun.
According to the information obtained, while there are normally about 20-25 ships off the coast of Samsun, this number has increased to around 70 following recent developments. The density created by the waiting ships off Samsun has also been captured from the air.
It has been noted that the entry and exit of ships to ports and their sailing plans are shaped by developments in the Black Sea and navigation safety.
Following the recent developments in the Black Sea, the position of Samsun has come to the forefront once again. The presence of numerous commercial ships waiting off the coast of Samsun has led to an unusual concentration of vessels along the city’s shores.

Dr. Sümeyye Uzun, a research assistant in the International Trade Department of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMÜ), stated that Samsun is directly affected by developments in the Black Sea due to its geographical location.
Uzun said, 'Samsun Port is among the Turkish ports most affected by the war due to its geographical position. This is because it serves as a logistical connection point in trade with Russia, Ukraine, and other Black Sea countries. In addition to its commercial role, Samsun also plays a role as a natural refuge.'
