FESCO Transportation successfully delivers cars from Vietnam to Kazakhstan via Vladivostok, marking a new intermodal shipping route.
Russia's FESCO Transportation has completed its first intermodal delivery of automobiles from Vietnam to Kazakhstan via Vladivostok, reports Russia's Pivot to Asia.
Containers with passenger cars assembled in Vietnam were shipped from Haiphong on the FESCO Vietnam Direct Line to Vladivostok Commercial Sea Port. The cargo was then loaded onto flat cars and transported by rail to Almaty.
The journey took 27 days, with the train carrying 122 TEU arriving at the destination on March 24.
FESCO stated that it plans to make such shipments regular and is exploring direct land routes through China. Deputy General Director German Maslov added that the company is also considering services to Uzbekistan and Russia.
The group operates terminal complexes in Novosibirsk, Khabarovsk, Tomsk, Vladivostok, and Kaliningrad. Its assets include a container fleet of more than 200,000 TEU, nearly 15,000 flat cars, and over 30 vessels serving its own shipping lines.
Vietnam's automotive industry is expanding exports through firms such as THACO, Hyundai Thanh Cong, and VinFast. These companies are developing specialized vehicles for industry and popular electric cars for urban markets.
