RMK Marine launches T. Florya, a cutting-edge 12,000 DWT chemical tanker for Ditaş Denizcilik, enhancing Turkey's maritime capabilities.
One of Turkey's leading shipyards, RMK Marine, has successfully launched T. Florya, the first of its new generation 12,000 DWT chemical tanker projects built for Ditaş Denizcilik.
The ceremony held at RMK Marine's shipyard in Tuzla was attended by Ünal Baylan, Director General of Maritime Affairs at the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Essam Alammari, Deputy Minister of Transport of Saudi Arabia, and senior officials from Koç Holding, Tüpraş, and Ditaş Denizcilik. In his speech at the ceremony, RMK Marine General Manager Dr. Utku Alanç stated, 'We are proud to once again demonstrate the strong collaboration between two established Turkish maritime companies and the high level achieved by domestic engineering through this project.'
The T. Florya Chemical Tanker, measuring 125 meters in length, has been meticulously designed by Delta Marine with a focus on high operational efficiency and advanced engineering approaches. Developed with safety, cargo flexibility, and performance criteria in mind, T. Florya is preparing to play an effective role in global chemical transportation operations with its technical infrastructure capable of meeting various operational needs, equipment compliant with international maritime standards, and modern system integration.
Ditaş Denizcilik General Manager Çağatay Ölken expressed the following regarding the ceremony: 'T. Florya is not just a new ship joining our fleet; it is also a tangible reflection of our focus on operational excellence, efficiency, and sustainability. This step we have taken in line with our goal of further strengthening our young, modern, and high-performance fleet will enhance our competitiveness. With its infrastructure ready for a methanol fuel system, T. Florya will bolster our capability to adapt to alternative fuels in alignment with our vision for low-carbon maritime transportation. This project, realized through domestic engineering and strong collaborations, also supports the global positioning of the Turkish maritime sector. In the upcoming period, we will continue our investments with determination, focusing on environmental responsibility, safety, and operational efficiency.'
A Strategic Step in Turkish Maritime
Following the completion of sea trials, T. Florya is planned to be delivered in the third quarter of 2026 and will be a significant milestone in Ditaş Denizcilik’s fleet structuring. The project represents not only a new shipbuilding process but also a strong step towards advancing engineering, quality, and safety standards in the Turkish maritime sector. In the future, with its optimized design and main engine configuration capable of utilizing low-emission fuels such as methanol, the T. Florya Chemical Tanker once again showcases RMK Marine and Ditaş Denizcilik’s vision for sustainability, environmental responsibility, and green transformation for the future.
