Salvage operations for the cargo ship 'REGALO,' carrying 27,500 tons of rice, continue after it ran aground off Tekirdağ four days ago.
Salvage operations are ongoing to refloat the cargo ship that ran aground off the coast of Tekirdağ.
Efforts to remove the cargo ship named 'REGALO,' flying the flag of São Tomé and Príncipe and carrying 27,500 tons of rice, are being conducted under the coordination of the General Directorate of Coastal Safety. After the expiration of the period specified in the legislation, public teams took over the salvage operation in the area.
In the first phase, the salvage operation will be carried out using the Coastal Safety General Directorate's Rescue-10 tugboat to refloat the vessel from its current position. It has been learned that the operation will be strengthened with the participation of high-towing-capacity tugboats that will be directed from Istanbul to the area.
The cargo ship, approximately 169 meters long and 27 meters wide, ran aground about four days ago off the coast of Ceyport Port. Following the incident, Coast Guard teams dispatched to the area conducted inspections on the ship, and initial assessments indicate that there were no casualties or environmental pollution.
