Search efforts for 9 missing crew members of the sunken 'Tuğberk İmamoğlu' persist on day 15 after its collision with the 'Alsu' ship.
The search efforts to reach the nine missing crew members of the 'Tuğberk İmamoğlu' vessel, which sank after colliding with the ship named 'Alsu,' continue on the 15th day.
Following the accident that occurred on September 2 in the waters off Silivri in the Sea of Marmara, search and rescue operations initiated by the Coast Guard Command, the General Directorate of Coastal Safety, and the Naval Forces Command are being carried out both from the air and the sea. Teams are coordinating their search and scanning activities at the accident site.
The relatives of the missing crew members continue to wait at the crisis center established in coordination with the district governor's office and AFAD on the Silivri coast.
The ship 'Alsu,' which collided with the 'Tuğberk İmamoğlu,' left the area around 3:00 PM after being anchored for 15 days in the waters off Silivri following the accident.
The accident occurred approximately 18 nautical miles offshore, where the commercial vessel 'Alsu,' traveling from Kocaeli to Aliağa, collided with the 'Tuğberk İmamoğlu,' which was en route from İskenderun Port to Karadeniz Ereğli. Following the accident, the 'Tuğberk İmamoğlu,' with a crew of ten, sank.
On the fourth day of the accident, the location of the wreck was identified with the support of advanced sonar systems and a remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) from the rescue ship TCG Akın of the Naval Forces Command, and diving and scanning activities were intensified in that area.
During the ongoing search and rescue operations, a lifeless male body was found approximately 5 kilometers from the collision site the day before yesterday. The body, which was sent to the Forensic Medicine Institution, was identified as belonging to the first captain of the sunken vessel, Yaşar Kayhan.
