Qatar lifts maritime restrictions, resuming cargo transport with Iran's Dayyer Port, enhancing trade and cooperation between the two nations.
The Qatari Ministry of Transport announced that all maritime activities have returned to normal by lifting the temporary restrictions that had been in place for approximately five months. Cargo transportation between Qatar's Al Ruwais Port and Iran's Dayyer Port has officially resumed.
The Qatari Ministry of Transport stated that it has lifted the temporary maritime restrictions that had been in effect for about five months, thereby declaring that all maritime activities have immediately returned to normal. Consequently, the advisory decision published on June 29, which temporarily halted the operations of marine vessels and fishing boats, has also been withdrawn. Commercial ships had been exempt from the restrictions during this period.
The Ministry invited all ship operators and maritime users to comply with the current maritime regulations and safety instructions.
With the lifting of the restrictions, cargo transportation between Qatar's Al Ruwais Port and Iran's Dayyer Port has officially resumed.
Iran's Trade Attaché in Doha, Abbas Abdolkhani, announced that the maritime line resumed operations following coordination between Iran's Embassy in Doha and Qatari officials. Abdolkhani noted that Al Ruwais Port is one of the most important entry points for Iranian exports to Qatar.
The reopening of the maritime line, which had been suspended for nearly five months, is expected to accelerate trade between the two countries.
Officials state that the resumption of services will reduce transportation costs, shorten delivery times, and significantly contribute to the trade of essential products, particularly food and construction materials. Additionally, it is anticipated that commercial cooperation among the private sector will also strengthen.
The resumption of maritime trade between Iran and Qatar is considered one of the significant steps in the normalization process following the tensions experienced in the Gulf in recent months.
Dayyer Port had been subjected to attacks during regional conflicts, and short-distance maritime trade between the two countries had been halted for approximately five months. With the maritime line resuming operations, there is a goal to gradually return commercial maritime transportation in the Gulf to pre-war levels.
