Northeast winds in the Sea of Marmara halt maritime transport at Tekirdağ, with eight vessels anchored offshore awaiting better conditions.
The northeast wind affecting the Sea of Marmara has negatively impacted maritime transportation along the Tekirdağ coastline. Due to the increasing intensity of the wind, some vessels have begun to wait off the coast of Tekirdağ for safe navigation.
With wind speeds occasionally reaching 40 kilometers per hour, eight bulk carriers and tankers, both domestic and foreign-flagged, have anchored off the coast of Tekirdağ.
It has been reported that the vessels are waiting for weather and sea conditions to return to normal. The waves generated by the northeast wind have also shown their effects along the coastal areas of the Sea of Marmara.
While the air temperature in the city is measured to be around 30 degrees, the northeast wind is expected to continue its effects until Saturday.
Authorities are warning citizens who plan to head out to sea to take into account the weather and sea conditions.
