İMEAK Chamber of Shipping reveals updated fees for pilotage, towage, and mooring services, adjusted annually based on U.S. inflation rates.
The İMEAK Chamber of Shipping shared an announcement with its members regarding pilotage, towage, and mooring services, as well as the fee practices related to these services, in accordance with the letter dated January 16, 2026, and numbered 3350320 sent by the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
In the mentioned letter, it was stated that the procedures and principles regarding the pricing of pilotage, tugboat, and mooring services are carried out in accordance with the provisions of the 'Regulation on the Fees for Pilotage, Towage, and Mooring Services,' which came into effect with the Ministerial Approval dated September 19, 2024, and numbered 2187670.
Fees are Updated According to U.S. Inflation
The letter also highlighted the first paragraph of Article 5 of the Regulation, indicating that the fees for the services provided under this scope are updated annually based on the inflation rate of the U.S. Dollar (USD), taking into account the consumer price index (CPI) data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Accordingly, the inflation rate calculated based on the December inflation data is announced by the Administration to be applied as of February 1 each year. It was emphasized that if the consumer price index results in a negative figure, the fees from the previous year will remain valid.
