Iran grants Pakistan the right for 20 vessels to pass daily through the Strait of Hormuz, marking a significant diplomatic achievement.
Diplomatic traffic between Pakistan and Iran has started to bear fruit. Pakistan's Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar announced that Iran has approved the passage of 20 more Pakistani-flagged vessels through the Strait of Hormuz. According to the agreement reached, the passage of 2 vessels per day will be permitted through the strait.
In a statement made via his social media account, Dar expressed that they welcomed this step taken by the Tehran administration, describing the decision as a 'constructive gesture.' Minister Dar stated that this development is a critical harbinger of peace in terms of establishing stability in the region.
Sharing his evaluations regarding the process, the Pakistani Minister used the following expressions:
'Dialogue, diplomacy, and such confidence-building measures are the only steps forward.'
A clear message to global actors
Another noteworthy detail in Dar's post was the names he tagged. The Pakistani Foreign Minister included not only his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi but also significant figures from the U.S. administration in his message. The tagged names included:
U.S. Vice President JD Vance,
Secretary of State Marco Rubio,
Special Representative of President Donald Trump Steve Witkoff.
This move was interpreted as a sign that Pakistan is conducting coordinated diplomacy with both regional and global actors regarding maritime traffic and security corridors in the region.
