Shipowners are expanding feeder fleets with new orders and conversions, highlighting ongoing investment in the container shipping sector.
Several shipowners have placed new feeder vessel orders or converted existing options into firm contracts, underscoring continued investment in the sub-1,000 TEU segment despite a growing global orderbook, reported London's Container News.
Greek shipowner Goldenport has ordered three 1,800 TEU vessels at Wuhan Qingshan Shipyard, part of China Merchants Group. Deliveries are scheduled for 2027 and 2028.
Shanghai Jinjiang Shipping has exercised options for four 1,900 TEU vessels at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, converting them into firm orders. The ships are part of an earlier deal placed this year, with deliveries expected to begin in mid-2029.
Hong Kong-based EGPN, previously active in dry bulk and clean tanker markets, has entered the container sector with two 1,900 TEU vessels ordered at CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard. Delivery is set for 2029.
Shanghai Minsheng Shipping has converted options for two 1,100 TEU vessels at New Dayang Shipbuilding into firm contracts. These follow an initial order for two ships placed in 2025, with deliveries across the four-vessel series scheduled between 2027 and 2029.
