New regulations for transport vehicles in Köyceğiz Lake focus on environmental protection and safety, impacting tourism and local transport.

A new regulation regarding the transportation vehicles that will operate in Köyceğiz Lake and Dalyan Canals has been published in today's Official Gazette and has come into effect. With this regulation, the operational principles, technical requirements, and inspection processes for the vessels engaged in passenger and cargo transportation in the region have been redefined.

The regulation is based on environmental protection and safe transportation.

The primary aim of the new regulation is to protect the ecological structure of Köyceğiz Lake and Dalyan Canals, prevent environmental pollution, and make maritime traffic in the area safer. Considering the region's designation as a natural site, it is assessed that more up-to-date provisions regarding the characteristics, capacity, and operational rules of the vessels have been introduced.

Tourism and Local Transportation Will Be Closely Affected

It is expected that the new rules will have a direct impact on the sector for the tour boats operating in the Dalyan line, one of Muğla's most important tourism centers, as well as for passenger transportation vehicles and local maritime transport businesses. The regulation, which comes into effect just before the summer season, is being closely monitored by businesses in the region.

    Environmentally Focused Transportation Model

Köyceğiz Lake and Dalyan Canals are among the most sensitive areas in Turkey due to their loggerhead turtle breeding grounds, reed bed ecosystems, and natural wildlife. For this reason, it is stated that the new regulation aims to establish a balance between environmental sustainability and tourism transportation.
