The pollution caused by the fuel oil spilled into the sea from the Poliport facilities in the Gulf of İzmit is under intevention by the 4 oil polution companies including the Directorate of Coastal Safety of Turkey..

According to information received from the region, Seagull, Mare, Medmarine and Coastal Safety teams continue to work in the region with boats and response teams. It was learned that the collection of fuel oil sledges at the sea will continue throughout the night.

Officials who stated that the pollution is not significant and under control are not facing a pollution that would require the use of exaggerated expressions such as the death of seabirds and environmental disaster. The amount of fuel oil spreading over the sea in a wide area is more intense. "Pollution is completely under control", officials said.

Experts said that the the sledges are to be manually collected rather than skimmed, as they are thick sledges and expanded infrequently at a large area.
