In the night of Sep 3, 2018, at 10 p.m. the 'Costa Magica' requested a medevac of an elderly passenger NE of Fehmarn island while en route from Stockholm to Copehnagen. A Sea King helicopter of the German Navy was deployed and hoisted the woman jointly with the ship's doctor. She was in critical state. The helicopter took her to the airport in Kiel-Holtenau where she was delivered at 12.30 a.m. and transported to the University Hospital in Kiel. At 2 a.m. on Sep 4 the doctor was transported back onto the cruise ship in the Great Belt. The ship berthed in Copenhagen at 9.10 a.m.
