MED MARINE launched a RAstar 2800 tugboat for Noatum Maritime, featuring compact design and high performance for terminal and escort operations.
MED MARINE launched the new RAstar 2800 class tugboat built for Noatum Maritime on January 12, 2026, in a ceremony held at Ereğli Shipyard.
Despite its compact design, the tugboat stands out with its high-performance features, measuring 28.40 meters in length and possessing a minimum towing capacity of 80 tons. Designed for tasks that require power and precision, particularly terminal and escort operations, the vessel offers agile and effective operational capability with a gross tonnage of less than 500 GT.
The platform is reported to reach a maximum speed of 12 knots and is fully compliant with Class FiFi 1 firefighting standards.
The RAstar 2800 class tugboat is equipped with towing winches located at the bow and stern, allowing it to operate in ship maneuvering, towing, pushing, berthing, and firefighting operations. The towing hook at the stern enhances maneuverability, while the azimuth stern drive (ASD) system provides high maneuverability and continuous towing power under challenging operational conditions.
Technical specifications:
Length: 28.40 meters
Width: 13.00 meters
Depth: 5.40 meters
Draft: 5.70 meters
Gross tonnage: below 500 GT
Towing capacity: Minimum 80 tons
