Guy Hindley has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Baltic Exchange Council, commencing his tenure on 1 January 2025. He succeeds Lord Jeffrey Mountevans, who has served in the role for the past two years.

A seasoned veteran in the maritime sector, Hindley has been a member of the Baltic Exchange Council since January 2019. His illustrious career includes nearly four decades at Howe Robinson, where he has been the Managing Partner of the Dry Cargo division. In this capacity, Hindley has been instrumental in overseeing operations and enhancing the company's standing in the global shipping market.

Hindley’s extensive experience in maritime and shipbroking is expected to significantly bolster the Baltic Exchange’s mission to elevate shipping standards and services on an international scale. His strategic leadership at Howe Robinson has been pivotal in maintaining the firm's prominent position within the industry.

Mark Jackson, Chief Executive of the Baltic Exchange, expressed his gratitude to Lord Mountevans for his dedicated leadership and welcomed Hindley to his new role. “Guy’s unparalleled experience and strategic insight into the maritime world will greatly benefit the Baltic Exchange and its members in the years ahead,” Jackson stated.

In his acceptance remarks, Guy Hindley emphasized the pivotal role of the Baltic Exchange within the global maritime community. “I am honored to take on this role and work closely with our members to ensure that the Baltic Exchange continues to lead the way in providing trusted data and services that support the maritime industry during this critical time of transformation,” he remarked.

The Baltic Exchange Council, as the organization’s governing body, is responsible for setting strategies related to membership services, social responsibility, charitable initiatives, and maintaining relationships with members, government entities, regulatory bodies, and the broader shipping industry. Under Hindley’s leadership, the Council is poised to continue its legacy of excellence and innovation in the maritime sector.
