On 20 September, Tianjin Xinglian Logistics Services Co., Ltd. - the joint venture established by both parties - formally completed its registration with a registered capital of RMB 30 million, with each party holding stakes of 51% and 49% respectively.
According to publicly available business registration records, Tianjin Xinglian Logistics Services Co., Ltd. was incorporated on 20 September 2026 with a registered capital of RMB 30 million. In terms of equity structure, the company is jointly funded by Maersk Logistics and Services (Hong Kong) Limited and CIMC Wetrans Logistics Technology (Group) Co., Ltd., with Maersk Hong Kong holding a 51% stake and CIMC Wetrans holding 49%. On the governance front, Ding Zejuan, President of Maersk Greater China, serves as Chairman of Xinglian Logistics, while Wu Lifeng, Vice President of CIMC Wetrans, serves as Vice Chairman.
Business registration records indicate that Xinglian Logistics operates within the road transport sector, with a scope of business encompassing road freight transport, international road freight transport, international and domestic freight forwarding, goods import and export, import and export agency, non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) services, warehousing, customs declaration, overland international freight forwarding, domestic container freight forwarding, and container leasing.
The breadth of this operating scope signals that Xinglian Logistics is not positioned as a single-link transport operator but rather as a platform spanning road transport, international freight forwarding, warehousing, customs brokerage, container services, and NVOCC operations. CIMC Group's 2026 interim report also lists CIMC Wetrans as a controlled subsidiary of the group.
Viewed against both organisations' existing business structures, Maersk's global supply chain service capabilities and CIMC Wetrans's domestic multimodal transport, container services, and depot network resources present a compelling alignment of complementary strengths.
Shipping lines have consistently extended their reach beyond ocean freight in recent years. Where cargo owners once purchased ocean freight capacity from carriers as a discrete transaction, a growing number of liner operators now integrate inland transport, warehousing, customs clearance, distribution, and broader supply chain services into comprehensive logistics offerings.
