Luka Koper reports record net sales of EUR380.3M in 2025, with significant increases in profits and container throughput, driven by strategic investments.
Slovenia's Koper closed 2025 with net sales revenue of EUR380.3 million (US$447.9 million), up 15 percent from 2024 and 13 percent above plan, reported Saint Petersburg's PortNews.
Operating profit rose 44 percent year-on-year to EUR96.3 million, exceeding plan by 74 percent. Net profit reached EUR81.5 million, up 35 percent from 2024 and 66 percent above plan.
The container terminal set a record throughput of 1,272,161 TEU, up 12 percent, driven by new hinterland business and restructured Far East and Mediterranean services. The car and ro-ro terminal handled 914,817 units, a three percent increase.
Total maritime throughput was 23 million tonnes, broadly steady year-on-year. Rail transport accounted for 51 percent of the modal split despite restrictions from railway upgrades. The passenger terminal logged 80 cruise ship calls and 123,928 passengers.
Capital expenditure reached EUR132.9 million, including EUR42.9 million for sustainability projects. Investment is set to rise to EUR201 million in 2026, with construction continuing on a new container quay, storage areas, a multi-storey car garage, and an automated steel coil warehouse.
