Damage larger than expected The damage caused when the "Kruzenshtern", slammed into the two berthed Icelandic Coastguard vessels "Þór" and "Týr" in Reykjavik on June 11 was larger as initially suspected. There were two holes in the side of the "Þór", one of them just above the sealine on the starboard side. Further investigations had to be conducted to see if the hull itself was breached. The "Týr"’s mast was broken, and holes were found on the port side. Neither ship remained seaworthy until repairs have been made. The operations department for the Icelandic Coast Guard would be seeking an insurance payout from the "Kruzenshtern"’s insurance company.
