Iran announces the reopening of a restricted shipping route in the Strait of Hormuz for select vessels, excluding US and allied ships.
Iran announced it will reopen a restricted shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz for select commercial vessels, reports Chicago's NewsNation.
Officials stated that the passage, part of 'Project Freedom,' will exclude US and allied ships. Vessels using the route must pay fees, a move criticized by Western governments as a violation of freedom of navigation.
China has also opposed the fees. Pakistani mediators continue efforts to revive talks, expressing cautious optimism despite the wide gaps between the sides.
