Emerging markets in Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America are driving global e-commerce growth, reshaping logistics and fulfilment strategies.
Global e-commerce growth is diversifying, with South and Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America driving expansion, prompting regionalised fulfilment strategies, reported London's Air Cargo Week.
Analysts stated that North America and Western Europe will remain high-volume markets; however, percentage growth between 2026 and 2030 will increasingly come from emerging regions. Companies are adopting multi-node fulfilment and hybrid inventory models to balance global sourcing with localised distribution and mitigate geopolitical risks.
Rising consumer expectations for faster delivery, real-time tracking, and seamless returns are reshaping logistics. Smaller, frequent orders from mobile-first and social commerce platforms are boosting parcel volumes, pressuring couriers and forwarders to form integrated digital partnerships for transparent cross-border operations.
Harald Oechsner of WCA eCommerce Solutions mentioned that supply chains will become more regionalised, with stronger adoption of nearshoring and hybrid inventory strategies. Steve Howard of WCA Courier Solutions added that international shipping has structurally shifted toward parcelised airfreight supported by distributed fulfilment.
Technology is central to operations, with AI-driven forecasting, predictive logistics, and automated customs processes enabling proactive inventory positioning and efficient last-mile delivery. Digital integration between forwarders and couriers is improving transparency, reducing transit times, and optimising costs.
Regulatory pressures are also shaping logistics, with fragmented customs standards and evolving trade policies requiring automated documentation and compliance monitoring. EU and US policy shifts on VAT, sustainability, and customs scrutiny are influencing inventory placement and routing strategies.
The 6th Annual WCA eCommerce Solutions Conference will be held in Barcelona from 6-8 June 2026, featuring keynote sessions, panel discussions, and networking opportunities for global e-commerce and logistics professionals.
