Baltic Container Terminal, operated by International Container Terminal Services Inc. at the Port of Gdynia, Poland, has handled the maiden call of MSC Venice, the largest vessel to dock at the port, according to a press release.

The MSC Venice measures 399 metres and has a capacity of 16,652 TEU. Its arrival demonstrated the port's ability to accommodate the largest container ships operating in the Baltic Sea.

Piotr Gorzenski, president and chief executive officer of the Port of Gdynia Authority, stated that this milestone was the result of recent investments, including deepening port waters, reconstructing the Helskie Quay, and expanding Turning Basin No. 2. He called the event historic for both the port and the logistics sector.

Patrick Chan, chief executive officer of BCT, remarked that the arrival validated the investments made by stakeholders to accommodate larger ships and reinforced Gdynia's position as a deep-water gateway supporting Poland's economic growth.

The call followed upgrades at BCT, which included new quay cranes and yard equipment, expanding operational capacity. Officials noted that this achievement reflected years of cooperation among the Port of Gdynia Authority, the Maritime Office, the Polish Navy, and other partners.

Baltic Container Terminal is one of the largest and most modern marine terminals in the Baltic region, with a capacity exceeding 1 million TEU. It is strategically located within pan-European corridors and rail routes, offering strong connectivity to Europe's hinterlands. BCT is a subsidiary of ICTSI, a global terminal operator headquartered in the Philippines.
