GERMAN express delivery giant DHL Supply Chain & Global Forwarding once again topped all in the Armstrong & Associates 3PL Value Creation North America Summit competition this year. But closing in were XPO Logistics and CH Robinson. XPO's 2015 merger with Menlo helped boost its brand strength. In 2013, Menlo placed seventh on the list, while XPO didn't break the top 20.
Meanwhile, CH Robinson's brand strength has climbed steadily over the last decade, Armstrong & Associates said, reported American Shipper.
The 3PL market has seen good growth in the last two years. Macroeconomic trends, combined with increasing supply chain complexity, means demand for 3PLs is increasing, said Armstrong & Associates, which also pointed out that the market grew 10.5 per cent in 2017 to US$184.3 billion, on track to exceed $200 billion in revenue in 2019.
The report includes data on the most common sales processes and contract lengths. It also lists operational strengths and procurement survey results.
Wisconsin-based Armstrong & Associates has surveyed 3PL managers and customers to identify the most recognisable brands in third-party logistics.
