Freightos partners with IATA to advance digital standards and connectivity in the air cargo sector, enhancing efficiency and collaboration.
Freightos has joined the International Air Transport Association's Digitalization Leadership Charter to promote interoperable standards and modern connectivity across the global air cargo sector, reported PR Newswire.
The Barcelona-based platform, listed on Nasdaq, stated that real-time digital connectivity and data exchange are increasingly vital for carriers, forwarders, shippers, and technology providers. Chief Executive Pablo Pinillos emphasized that collaboration on common standards will reduce integration friction and build a more resilient freight ecosystem.
The Charter sets five priorities: industry-wide interoperability and global data standards, stronger cybersecurity, paperless cargo operations, innovation and automation, and the ethical adoption of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.
IATA's head of cargo digitalization, Jonathan Parkinson, welcomed Freightos, stating that digital transformation requires collaboration across the ecosystem. He highlighted the importance of standards such as ONE Record, which consolidates shipment data into a single platform.
Freightos provides open digital infrastructure to support the transition to universal data standards. The company connects airlines, ocean carriers, thousands of forwarders, and more than 10,000 importers and exporters, aiming to make global trade more efficient and agile.
