Four shipowners have secured feeder vessel contracts in the 1,100-1,900 TEU segment, indicating a resurgence in the sub-2,000 TEU market.

Four shipowners have placed or firmed feeder vessel contracts in the 1,100-1,900 TEU segment, signalling renewed activity in the sub-2,000 TEU category despite a heavily loaded global orderbook, reported London's Container Management.

Hong Kong-based EGPN has entered the container market with an order for two 1,900 TEU ships at CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard, with delivery scheduled for 2029.

Shanghai Jinjiang Shipping has exercised options for four 1,900 TEU newbuildings at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, converting them into firm commitments. The vessels are due from mid-2029.

Greek owner Goldenport has contracted three 1,800 TEU ships at Wuhan Qingshan Shipyard, part of China Merchants Group, with handovers slated for 2027 and 2028.

Shanghai Minsheng Shipping has converted options for two 1,100 TEU ships at New Dayang Shipbuilding into firm orders. These follow an initial pair ordered in 2025, with the four-vessel programme delivering between 2027 and 2029.
