    The first hearing of a significant case with 402 defendants, including Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, begins today in Silivri under heavy security.

    The first hearing of the case opened with an indictment of approximately 3,900 pages, involving 402 defendants, 106 of whom are in custody, including Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğlu. Extensive security measures have been implemented around Silivri ahead of the hearing. CHP leader Özgür Özel stated in his first remarks, 'This case is a setup.'

    The first hearing of the case opened with an indictment of 3,900 pages prepared as part of a financial investigation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) and is starting today at the Marmara Closed Prison Courtroom in Silivri. The indictment includes 143 actions and 17 separate charges.

    INTENSE SECURITY MEASURES IN SILIVRI

    The vehicle density around the prison before the hearing has drawn attention.

    BAKIRKÖY CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR ALSO IN SILIVRI

    It was observed that Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor Barış Duman also came to Silivri before the hearing.

    Ekrem İmamoğlu's wife, Dilek İmamoğlu, and their son, Selim İmamoğlu, are also waiting for the hearing in Silivri. Before the hearing, Dilek İmamoğlu made a brief statement in the area where the press members were located.

    LAWYERS FORM LONG QUEUES

    Lawyers are waiting in line to enter the courtroom. A long queue has formed in front of the courtroom.

    The 30-seat area reserved for the press in the courtroom is completely full.

    Other journalists who could not find a place in the courtroom are following the hearing from two rooms designated for the press to monitor from a distance. Denizli Mayor Lal Denizli and the President of the Turkish Bar Association (TBB), Erinç Sağkan, are also present in the courtroom.

    CHP Chairman Özgür Özel came to Silivri to observe the hearing. Özel made a brief statement to the press at the entrance.
