Fire on ferry off Nador

On Sep 7, 2017, at 12.30 p.m. a fire broke out in the engine room of the "Almariya" with 1668 passengers on board, shortly after the ferry left Nador bound for Almeria. The fire was quickly extinguished by the crew, but the vessel was disabled, and drifted off Nador until 6 a.m. before it was towed back to Nador, where all passengers disembarked. The passengers reached Almeria by other Transmediterranea ferries.
