FIATA partners with Otonomi to offer digital cargo delay insurance for freight forwarders, enhancing risk management in global shipping.
FIATA has partnered with Otonomi Inc to provide freight forwarders worldwide with digital cargo delay insurance, reported London's Air Cargo Week.
The collaboration was announced at the 2026 FIATA HQ Meeting in Geneva during a session on emerging technologies in freight forwarding. The partnership aims to help members manage risks from delayed shipments across air, ocean, and eCommerce sectors.
Otonomi's platform enables instant quoting and policy issuance using automated algorithms. Freight forwarders can customize delay triggers from three to 24 hours and set coverage limits, with policies issued digitally without manual underwriting or paperwork.
FIATA Director General Stephane Graber stated that the partnership connects members with modern tools to protect their businesses and clients' cargo more efficiently. Otonomi CEO Yann Barbaroux noted that freight forwarders have long been underserved in delay protection, and the partnership will deliver scalable solutions.
The program covers sectors including perishables, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, automotive, life sciences, electronics, and eCommerce. Otonomi's platform manages the full insurance lifecycle, including quoting, issuance, and claims, while ensuring compliance across jurisdictions.
