The EU plans to impose duties on Chinese plug-in hybrids pending member state approval, targeting manufacturers like BYD and Chery.
The European Commission is planning to impose countervailing duties on Chinese plug-in hybrid vehicles once a majority of EU member states approve, reports Dusseldorf's Handelsblatt daily.
Three people involved in the discussions told the newspaper that preparations have been made for the Commission to move ahead with the tariffs.
Handelsblatt stated that the measures would target vehicles from Chinese manufacturers including BYD, Chery, and SAIC, with the aim of introducing additional duties to counter subsidies.
