Emirates Shipping Line names Sushil Sriram as CEO, succeeding Till Ole Barrelet, as the company marks its 20th anniversary and plans further growth.
Dubai-based Emirates Shipping Line has named Sushil Sriram as chief executive officer, succeeding Till Ole Barrelet, who is stepping down after four years in the role, reported Singapore's Splash 247.
Mr. Sriram joined ESL in January 2024 as chief trade officer and has worked on network development and commercial strategy. He brings about 20 years of experience in strategy, operations, and commercial management across Asia and Europe.
Mr. Barrelet led the carrier through a period of repositioning and expansion, sharpening its strategy and raising its profile in global liner markets. The company said it expects to continue building its position in core trades under the new chief's leadership.
The leadership change coincides with ESL's 20th anniversary. Founded in 2006 as a niche carrier, the company has grown into a mid-sized operator ranked 20th on Alphaliner's list of top carriers.
ESL runs a network of more than 70 offices in 32 countries and operates close to 30 ships with a combined capacity of about 120,000 TEU.
