Prof. Dr. Oral Erdoğan re-elected as president of Türk Loydu Foundation during the 71st General Assembly, focusing on IACS membership and global reputation.
The national classification organization of the Turkish maritime and industrial sector, Türk Loydu Foundation, determined its new management team and distribution of duties following the 71st Ordinary General Assembly held on April 29, 2026. In an exciting election with three candidates, the current president, Prof. Dr. Oral Erdoğan, was re-elected, renewing his mandate.
Election Race and Ballot Results
At the general assembly held at the Türk Loydu headquarters in Tuzla, 78 delegates cast their votes. In the election where the lists of Prof. Dr. Oral Erdoğan, İsmail Cengiz Ünlü, and Bülent Hüseyinoğlu competed, Erdoğan's list received the majority support from the delegates.
According to the notable distribution of votes, Cihan Bayrak received the highest number of votes with 57, followed by Gürsel Yıldız with 53 votes and Prof. Dr. Oral Erdoğan with 52 votes.
Distribution of Duties in the Board of Directors
The newly convened board of directors clarified its internal distribution of duties as follows:
Chairman of the Board of Directors: Prof. Dr. Oral Erdoğan
Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors: Ufuk Teker
Treasurer: Mustafa Zorlu

Re-elected President Prof. Dr. Oral Erdoğan emphasized the deep-rooted values of Türk Loydu in his thank-you speech, stating that the most critical goal for the upcoming period is full membership in IACS (International Association of Classification Societies). Erdoğan expressed that Türk Loydu will continue to be the strongest guide in the sector in terms of adapting to global economic challenges and climate change regulations (EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime).
The new management has commenced its duties, committing to enhance Türk Loydu's international reputation based on the principles of transparency, sustainability, and a scientific approach.
