DHL unveils its inaugural Mammoth Freighters 777-200F and confirms a significant order for 13 units, enhancing its fleet capabilities.
DHL has revealed its first Mammoth Freighters 777-200 converted freighter and confirmed an order for 13 of the type, reported London's Air Cargo News. Four of the aircraft are scheduled to enter service this year.
The 777-200LR Mammoth Freighter was displayed at the Farnborough International Airshow. The first aircraft has been placed with DHL Air UK as part of the company's long-term fleet modernization program.
Conversion work in Manchester included the installation of a large main-deck cargo door and advanced handling systems, while retaining the original airframes and engines.
Tom Mackle, managing director of DHL Air UK, stated that the aircraft enhances long-haul network capability and reinforces the company's operational reputation. He added that investment in people and infrastructure supports DHL's sustainability ambitions.
Mammoth Freighters received Federal Aviation Administration certification for the 777-200LRMF in April, paving the way for deliveries to launch customers. Qatar Airways Cargo has agreed to take five of the aircraft through Texas-based lessor Jetran.
