The 99-meter MPMS 1, built by DESAN Shipyard for the Malaysian Coast Guard Command, will be launched on October 2nd in a ceremony to be held in Kocaeli.
The Multi-Purpose Coast Guard Vessel MPMS 1, constructed by DESAN Shipyard for the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), is preparing for its launch. The launch ceremony for the vessel will take place on Friday, October 2, 2026, in Kocaeli.
It will be one of the largest vessels in the Malaysian coast guard fleet.
Measuring 99 meters in length, the MPMS 1 will be one of the two largest vessels in the inventory of the Malaysian Coast Guard Command.
Equipped with domestic and advanced technology systems from the Turkish defense industry, the vessel is being built as part of the cooperation between Turkey and Malaysia in the field of maritime security.
Representatives from both countries will attend the ceremony.
High-level officials from Turkey and Malaysia, as well as representatives from the coast guard commands of both countries, will participate in the launch ceremony. Cenk İsmail Kaptanoğlu, Chairman of the Board of DESAN Shipyard, will also be present at the event.
