Aliağa Municipality plans to demolish industrial facilities and shipbreaking firms for permit violations, starting tender process on February 24.
IZMIR — The Aliağa Municipality in İzmir has made a comprehensive demolition decision targeting industrial facilities and ship dismantling companies located within the district boundaries. The tender process will be initiated on February 24 for structures found to be in violation of permits.
The updated list prepared by the municipality includes leading industrial and port operations in Turkey among the sections identified as non-compliant with permits or zoning regulations. The demolitions to be carried out at these facilities will be based on decisions made between 2017 and 2025.
Among the major companies listed for demolition are industrial establishments such as Ege Çelik, Nemport Port Operations, Batı Liman, Çiftay Construction, Habaş, Kılıçlar Scrap Metal, Bayburt Group, Kardemir Çelik, and Selmarin Port. Additionally, more than 20 ship dismantling companies are also included in the same list.
The scope of the demolition tender will involve operations such as the dismantling of machinery, cement, concrete, wooden roofs, and iron manufacturing. It has been emphasized that, according to the findings of the Municipality's Department of Environment and Urban Planning, there are sections in these areas that are in violation of permits.
This development is seen as a harbinger of a new compliance and inspection process for businesses operating in the heavy industry, port, and ship dismantling sectors in Aliağa.
