COSCO SHIPPING Holdings marks significant progress in green fleet development with successful methanol bunkering operations at key ports.

COSCO SHIPPING Holdings recorded another significant milestone in its green fleet development programme. Through close coordination between COSCO Shipping Holdings/COSCO Shipping Lines, COSCO Shipping Fuel, and Sinopec CNOOC Gas & Power, green methanol bunkering operations were successfully completed for the vessels 'COSCO SHIPPING Gemini' at Ningbo Meishan Port and 'COSCO SHIPPING Carnation' at Guangzhou Nansha Port. The former established a new single-bunkering methanol record for COSCO Group with an operation volume of 7,500 tonnes, while the latter marked the first-ever green methanol bunkering operation conducted at a Guangzhou port terminal.

These two consecutive methanol bunkering operations represent a meaningful step forward in COSCO Shipping's container fleet green and low-carbon transition, as well as in the large-scale application of new marine energy sources.

Shipping serves as the principal artery of global trade, and the green, low-carbon transition stands as a defining imperative for the industry's high-quality development. As a leading force in ocean shipping, COSCO Shipping Holdings/COSCO Shipping Lines remains anchored to the dual carbon targets, accelerating the buildout of its green fleet, steadily advancing the construction of new-energy vessels and the green propulsion retrofit of existing ships, and continuing to establish methanol bunkering demonstration operations across multiple key domestic ports. Through these efforts, the company is progressively building a green shipping ecosystem that encompasses capacity, fuel supply, and safe operational maintenance - harnessing new productive forces to drive the shipping industry's green transformation.

COSCO SHIPPING Holdings is advancing the systematic delivery of a series of methanol dual-fuel ultra-large container vessels. The programme spans the batch delivery of 16,000 TEU methanol dual-fuel series vessels - achieving a historic breakthrough in the real-vessel application of domestically produced methanol main engines - through to the completion and inaugural voyage of the world's largest 24,000 TEU methanol dual-fuel vessel, and further to the placement of orders for 12 vessels of 14,000 TEU methanol dual-fuel ships designated for Latin American trade routes. This ongoing expansion is continuously enriching a methanol-powered vessel matrix calibrated to serve the world's principal shipping lanes. Each of these newly constructed vessels is equipped with methanol dual-fuel main engines, dedicated fuel tanks, and intelligent energy efficiency management systems - reducing carbon emissions across the full lifecycle of the vessel from the point of origin.

In parallel, COSCO SHIPPING Holdings is advancing the upgrade and retrofit of its conventional fuel container fleet, exploring an efficient pathway for the low-carbon renewal of its existing vessels. Represented by the 20,000 TEU vessel COSCO SHIPPING Gemini and sister ships, a systematic retrofit programme - encompassing the replacement of main and auxiliary engines, the addition of dedicated methanol fuel tanks, and the integration of piping and automation systems - converts conventional fuel-powered vessels into methanol dual-fuel ships. This retrofit solution rapidly unlocks the potential of existing capacity and provides a replicable, scalable model for the low-carbon upgrade of large container vessels across the industry.

From vessel retrofits and new ship deliveries to multi-port bunkering breakthroughs, COSCO Shipping Holdings/COSCO Shipping Lines is leveraging clean marine energy as its strategic anchor to drive the continuous green upgrading of its fleet composition. In serving global trade and advancing the shared vision of the Belt and Road Initiative, the company upholds the responsibility of a central state-owned shipping enterprise - charting a low-carbon course toward a green maritime future.
